COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A woman has been placed in custody after allegations of facing a cruelty to animals charge.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a residence on Bannack Lane in reference to a welfair check, and after questioning several people, it was revealed that Tiffany Cawley had been involved in the unauthorized rental of the property on Airbnb.

However, during the welfair check, authorities say that they observed three dogs in Cawley’s bedroom crated with no food or water with one dog having dried feces in and surrounding the kennel, two cats and a ferret in kennels in Cawley’s closet, and three more dogs sitting in the closed garage with no ventilation in urine and feces.

The incident report states that Cawley told authorities that she takes the dogs out every two hours, but a neighbor stated that he had only seen one dog once.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Cawley was placed into custody and transported to the Columbia County Detention Center while the animals have been collected by animal control.
