Cody Rhodes identifies where he went 'too far' in WWE Wrestlemania feud with The Rock, Bloodline

No one had ever, ever seen a lead-in to Wrestlemania like the one orchestrated by The Rock, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes ahead of the most recent Showcase of the Immortals this past April. The lines between kayfabe and reality were not only blurred, they outright disappeared for months as “The Final Boss” wiped his ass with the PG-13 Era.

In the process, he ushered in a return to the Attitude Era way of doing things and Rhodes, a babyface equaled only by the pinnacle of Hulkamania, was even sucked into the dark side.

The reigning WWE Champion enjoyed it and all that it created, but there was one moment he’d like to take back — hindsight causing him to deal with a bit of guilt regarding it.

“I feel maybe I crossed the line,” Rhodes told Chris Van Vliet via PWMania . “I did a promo where I said he had LDS [Little D*ck Syndrome].”

Rhodes being the biggest babyface in wrestling means he always has to walk the line between having an edge — e.g., in promos against The Rock, his incendiary feud with AJ Styles — and keeping his character intact.

The line was difficult to detect in the face of The Great One.

“I feel like a lot of people liked the interview and got a nice round of applause when I came back through the curtain, but it felt so off brand for me,” said Rhodes. “Because we have so many young kids that I felt like this one guy is the guy that I’m gonna go to these lengths for, and maybe that’s what makes this all click. This genuine animosity and smile at each other but probably deeply dislike one another.

“If he’s the one who’s gonna bring it out, it’s probably good TV, but it did feel a little, I guess icky in the moment.”

    Icky.

If that doesn’t tell you just how clean and family-friendly Rhodes is, mostly, right now then nothing will. In the end, he’s right, it made for phenomenal television and it all played a key role in what is now the legendary lore of not only Rhodes finishing his story, but in what it took to do so.

And there’s nothing icky about that.
