Colin Cowherd: Josh Allen is ‘underrated’

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has faced a lot of criticism because he can’t get past Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.

As good as Josh Allen has been during the regular season, he’s yet to lead his team to the Super Bowl, which has many fans and NFL experts questioning his ability to get it done.

But Colin Cowherd thinks that the criticism of Allen is just plain silly and people need to back up off him.

“I’ll die on this hill: Josh Allen, to this point, the criticism is silly. He’s underrated,” Cowherd declared Tuesday.

He’s got a point. Allen has four straight seasons of over 4,200 passing yards and 29 touchdowns, making two Pro Bowls, an All-Pro team, and finishing top six in both the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year voting three times.

Allen may not be “underrated” but he can be underappreciated given his accomplishments. Allen is basically where Peyton Manning was at one point in his career (though to be fair, Peyton had to deal with similar criticism until he finally won a Super Bowl).

Mannng was dominating the regular season but when he had to face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots early in his career, he couldn’t overcome them. As Manning progressed and got older, he finally got the best of Brady and it paid off with two Super Bowl rings.

Perhaps the same will eventually happen for Josh Allen.
