The Dickinson County High-Water Plan states that the last water gauge must fall below a pre-determined level before a 72-hour waiting period begins. West Okoboji Lake fell below 6.2 feet Wednesday at 6 a.m., starting the waiting period.
Even with the 5 mph rule being lifted, officials ask anyone on the lake to be aware of areas that were damaged due to the recent flooding. Officials provided a map of those areas. You can see it below. Boaters are also asked to recommend lowering speeds to 5 mph in those areas.
