When do Tampa Bay area students go back to school?

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Summer is almost over, which means students will be heading back to school next month.

Here’s when each county is anticipating the return back to the classroom for the 2024-2025 school year:

• Hillsborough County : Monday, August 12
• Pinellas County : Monday, August 12
• Pasco County : Monday, August 12
• Polk County : Monday, August 12
• Manatee County : Monday, August 12
• Sarasota County : Monday, August 12
• Highlands County : Monday, August 12
• Hernando County : Monday, August 12
• Citrus County : Monday, August 12

Although all Tampa Bay area public schools began on the second Monday of August, some districts have early release for the first day back.

As students and parents anticipate the new school year, Floridians can take advantage of the back-to-school sales tax holiday begins Monday, July 29, and runs through Sunday, August 11.
