ESPN's Kimberly A. Martin: It'd Be 'Asinine' If Jets Don't Pursue Davante Adams

Davante Adams is set for another season with the Las Vegas Raiders, but speculation continues over whether or not he could be traded ahead of training camp.

Adams' agents recently stated per ESPN's Adam Schefter on X that all of the trade rumors to this point are "baseless," but the media is calling their bluff.

"Let's make it clear. It would be asinine for the Jets not to try and get Davante Adams. Because it's the Jets," ESPN's Kimberly A. Martin said Wednesday on First Take .

The Jets will embark on a sort of all-or-nothing campaign in 2024. Aaron Rodgers' NFL clock is ticking, and the organization knows that they cannot see failure once again. Adams' rapport with Rodgers would be a prime difference-maker for the team's success. The writing is on the wall. They are a top candidate to land the All-Pro wide receiver, if he is traded.

An opportunity to reunite with Rodgers, and play opposite Garrett Wilson in the New York offense would certainly be enticing for Adams. However, the Raiders are not just going to deal their star player at the drop of a hat. It would likely become a mid-season decision for the organization depending on their playoff standing by the trade deadline.

Still, it would surprise no one to see the Jets try and make some noise leading up to the regular season.
