The WNBA's rise continues to transpire at a rapid rate. According to Front Office Sports, the WNBA is set to nearly quadruple its revenue with a new $2.2 billion media rights deal spanning 11 years with ESPN, Amazon, and NBC.

While the league has seen exponential growth through recent seasons, the 2024 WNBA rookie class has truly helped change the landscape of women's basketball.

Young stars like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Cameron Brink have brought immense viewership to the sport, leading to high revenue opportunities.

"Riding the wave that crested with Clark, the WNBA could quadruple its annual rights payout from TV partners," Front Office Sports wrote on June 14.

The league's current media rights deal is set to expire after the 2025 season, so players and teams will soon have a chance to work with an increased salary cap and wage boost.

The WNBA is currently bringing in $60 million annually from its media rights package with Disney, Amazon Prime Video, CBS, and Ion. The new deal will bring in $200 million annually, a 233% increase in revenue, according to the FOS report.

The WNBA's multi-billion-dollar deal could lead to an increase in player salaries, which currently range from $64,000 to $252,000. That window could rise significantly.

Clark's current salary in the league comes in at $76,535 annually. She was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, garnering insane attention on and off the floor years before she entered the league.

A player like Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson, who's currently the frontrunner to win the league's MVP award for the third time, has an annual salary of $199,211 . Wilson is averaging 27.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game, leading the league in the rebounding and blocks categories.

While these players have earned respectable contracts, the league's major boost in the new media rights deal will give them a chance to see their wages rise.
