Severe thunderstorm watch, warnings issued in Central Virginia areas

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of Central Virginia and a severe thunderstorm warning in multiple localities.
The NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the following Central Virginia areas until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17:
Chesterfield County
Greensville County
City of Colonial Heights
City of Hopewell
City of Petersburg
Lunenburg County
Nottoway County
Prince George County
Sussex County
Dinwiddie County
Amelia County
Brunswick County
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect in the following Central Virginia localities until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday:
Mecklenburg County
A warning, unlike a watch, means one or more severe thunderstorms have been spotted near or within the noted area. A watch means conditions indicate a storm could form.
