United Way Launches THRIVE Initiative to Tackle Mental Health Crisis in Calhoun County

Anniston, AL – United Way of East Central Alabama has unveiled its latest initiative, THRIVE, aimed at addressing the urgent mental health challenges facing homeless, low-income, uninsured, and underinsured populations in the region.

THRIVE represents a groundbreaking collaborative effort designed to confront the critical intersection of mental illness, homelessness, and poverty. The program will feature a dedicated team including a licensed mental health professional and a clinical licensed social worker. These professionals will work closely with clinicians at St. Michael’s Medical Clinic to provide specialized mental health services for clients shared among Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County, St. Michael’s Medical Clinic, and Martha’s Hope: The Martha Vandervoort Center to End Homelessness.

Services offered under THRIVE will encompass a wide spectrum, including various therapies, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, free prescriptions, clinician visits, individual therapy, group therapy, peer support groups, and alternative holistic support tailored to the unique needs of each client.

“This initiative is a direct response to the escalating mental health crisis affecting vulnerable populations in our community,” stated a spokesperson from United Way of East Central Alabama. “By pooling resources and expertise from multiple organizations, we aim to make a profound impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health issues exacerbated by their living conditions.”
