Cumberland Co. prisoner who walked off from work release arrested in Cambria Co.

NANTY GLO, Pa. (WHTM) — A Cumberland County prisoner is back in custody after authorities said he walked off the job while on work release earlier this week .

Karl Zimmerman, 62, was serving a six-month sentence for simple assault and was last seen leaving for a work release orientation around midday Monday.

Wednesday, he was arrested by Jackson Township Police near Nanty Glo in Cambria County.

He was taken to the Cambria County Prison and will be taken back to Cumberland County Prison, where he will face escape charges, Cumberland County Warden Travis Shenk said in a media release.

Zimmerman was previously set to be released in December.
