FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — On Wednesday, the Allen County Democratic Women’s Club held a town hall featuring democratic candidate for governor, Jennifer McCormick .

The primary topic was reproductive rights, but the community was able to ask McCormick other questions ahead of the November election.

In a press release sent by the McCormick’s campaign team, she emphasized that Hoosiers deserve to know what Indiana’s gubernatorial candidates stand for regarding reproductive rights.

McCormick said these issues have nothing do with whether you’re a man, woman, Democrat or Republican because she believes they are basic human rights.

“It is a healthcare topic, and women need to have the autonomy to plan accordingly. You know, it goes beyond just the abortion conversation right now is going into birth control and IVF and they’re not going to stop,” said McCormick.

Last Saturday, Democratic delegates selected Terry Goodin as the party’s nominee for lieutenant governor.

Goodin and McCormick are both former school superintendents, and they’re leaning heavily on the importance of public education and reproductive rights in the campaign.
