WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Department of Transportation announced that work will begin Monday to resurface 22 miles of U.S. Highway 283 in Trego County.

KDOT says the work will involve applying an ultrathin-bonded asphalt surface to 22 miles of pavement starting at the Ness County line and extending north to the Interstate 70/U.S. 283 interchange near WaKeeney.

Flaggers and a pilot car will direct traffic through the areas where crews work. During daylight hours, motorists should plan for delays of 15 minutes or less.

KDOT expects the work to be completed by the end of August, conditions permitting. Venture Corp. is the contractor for the $3.7 million project.
