ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a revamp of its ‘dormant’ Crime Stoppers program.

“Now operating under the name Rowan County Crime Stoppers, tips have already begun to pour in, one qualifying for a reward payment so far,” the sheriff’s office said Thursday.

The program operates on donations and support from local governments but is not affiliated with any law enforcement agency.

“The sheriff’s office alone has five unsolved murders that Crime Stoppers could be used to help make arrests in. Homicide detectives with the sheriff’s office are currently focusing their efforts into these cases, all of which occurred between 2018 and 2023.

The program has been dormant since the COVID pandemic.
