Fantasy Football managers won’t win their leagues in the first round. But, choosing the wrong superstar can certainly set you up for failure. One of the players managers will be targeting early in 2024 is Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb.
CeeDee Lamb is coming off an incredible 2023 campaign. He led the NFL with 135 receptions, turning them into 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
As one of the top wide receivers in the league, CeeDee Lamb is someone that Fantasy Football managers will be keeping a close eye on near the top of the first round. Like the NFL, the landscape in fantasy has skewed more toward wide receivers than running backs early.
Over at PFF , they recently revealed their top 400 ranking for standard league scoring. Non-PPR is not the kind of scoring many leagues have any longer, but there are still some that use it, leading to different player rankings.
In this version, running backs remain the most valuable skill position because there aren’t points rewarded for receptions. Despite that, the Cowboys star is still someone that will go very early.
As shared by Nathan Jahnke, CeeDee Lamb comes in as WR1 and the second player overall in non-PPR leagues. The only player ahead of him is San Francisco 49ers running back, Christian McCaffrey.
“Running backs are more valuable in standard leagues, and some are therefore ranked higher than they would be in PPR rankings. However, the Cowboys wide receiver is still the second-best option in the format,” Jahnke wrote .
These rankings will certainly raise some eyebrows. A strong argument can be made for Tyreek Hill, Ja’Marr Chase or Justin Jefferson being the No. 1 ranked wide receiver in Fantasy Football.
However, unlike his peers, there are things CeeDee Lamb benefits from that they don’t. Target share is a big one.
Hill is the Miami Dolphins No. 1, but Jaylen Waddle isn’t far behind. Ja’Marr Chase is atop the Cincinnati Bengals pecking order with Tee Higgins. Jefferson has Jordan Addison and tight end T.J. Hockenson around him, and a questionable quarterback situation.
The Cowboys don’t have a player that will threaten CeeDee Lamb for the top spot in the passing game. With arguably the weakest running back room in the NFL, they will also be airing it out a ton.
The only concern involving CeeDee Lamb is his contract status. A training camp hold out could lead to some Fantasy Football owners moving him down a few spots on their big board. But, if the Cowboys can work out a deal with him soon, there will be zero worries about him heading into 2024.
