Last month, Carter pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter of Markham, who died in 2011. Her remains were located in 2013 in Franklin County, Indiana.

Carter also received a mandatory Post Release Control of one to three years. If he violates PRC, he could be returned to prison.

After sentencing, Carter was taken to the Butler County Jail, where he awaits transfer to an ODRC facility.
