Multiple arrests, seizures in Burke County Sheriff’s Office drug investigation

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – The Burke County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, announced the execution of search warrants and arrests following an ongoing drug investigation on Thursday, July 18.

According to authorities, search warrants were done at two locations in Burke County. Two search warrants were also conducted in Richmond County, with the assistance of Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

During the operation, investigators reportedly found the following items they believe are connected to a drug organization:

• 4.5 lbs (1,992 grams) of marijuana
• 15 grams of fentanyl
• 50 Oxycodone pills (5 grams)
• Two firearms (one of which was reported stolen)
• $35,078 in US currency

Because of the investigation and raids, five individuals have been arrested and booked into custody.

“This operation highlights our ongoing commitment to combatting illegal drug activity in our communities,” said Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams, regarding the investigation. “We are grateful for the collaboration with our law enforcement partners in Richmond County and remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens.”

According to BCSO, the investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available.
