(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — A tip led detectives with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) to an illegal marijuana grow operation in eastern Pueblo County.

According to PCSO, a tip was received reporting a possible marijuana grow and distribution operation in the 4000 block of South Road, near Salt Creek. PCSO Special Investigations and Narcotics detectives investigated the tip, and found evidence of a possible grow.

Earlier in July, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the location, where they found an illegal grow with 89 marijuana plants in a metal outbuilding, as well as numerous pounds of dried marijuana product.

State law allows only 12 marijuana plants per household.

Detectives also found more than 60 pounds of dried and packaged marijuana along with jars of marijuana concentrate and three guns inside the home. Inside the basement of the home, another illegal grow containing several immature plants was discovered. No arrests have been made in connection to the grow, but PCSO said a suspect has been identified and charges are pending.

“This recently discovered illegal marijuana grow is indicative that there is still black market, illegal grows operating in our county,” said Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero. “The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is committed to finding illegal marijuana grows and making sure those operating them are held accountable, but this is something we cannot do alone. We continue to ask the public to alert and notify us if they see suspicious activity at a home. If they call us, we will check it out.”
