Kate Martin’s Dad Gives Crucial Update On Her Injury

On Tuesday night, WNBA rookie Kate Martin suffered an ankle injury in the Las Vegas Aces 93-85 loss to Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

The injury occurred late into the first quarter when Martin was dribbling up the court. She went down without making contact with anyone, which put fear into many WNBA fans' eyes.

Martin needed assistance to get off the court and into the locker room. She was later deemed out for the remainder of the game but made a return to the Aces' bench under her own power.

According to KCCI Des Moines , Martin's father, Matt Martin, spoke on her injury on Thursday, saying Kate "bruised her Achilles tendon" and that the injury was "perfect timing" because of the month-long break due to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the recent photo above that emerged online on Thursday, Martin can be seen standing without any help except for the tape wrapped around her ankle.

Hopefully Martin's ankle heals up in time for when the WNBA and the Aces return to action on August 17.

After her college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Martin was selected with the No. 18 pick in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft. In 22 games this season, Martin is averaging 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
