CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A global outage is causing issues for millions and Mount Nittany Health is one of the latest to make changes for patients during this time.

Mount Nittany Health is experiencing significant disruptions across its system due to the outage, they said in a statement.

The healthcare system had to cancel all non-emergency appointments, including surgeries, for Friday, July 19, at Mount Nittany Medical Center and our Mount Nittany Health/Mount Nittany Physician Group locations.

Mount Nittany said they have limited access to patient contact information and apologized for any inconvenience this outage may cause.

The outage was first detected Thursday, forcing airlines to cancel flights around the world. Since its detection, the issues spread to companies across the world, including hospitals and media outlets, taking some off-air.

According to the Associate Press, Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack — and that a fix was on the way. The company said the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows.
