Any publicity is good publicity, right? While Ingrid Andress is presumably in rehab, her music is being listened to now more than ever before. The only explanation, as strange as it may sound, is that the negative attention she received when she
botched her national anthem performance at the MLB Home Run Derby has spun into positive results. In case you somehow missed the viral moment, the country artist performed the "Star Spangled Banner" in a way that has been deemed one of the worst national anthem performances of all time. And that's saying a lot considering what Fergie did to the beloved song. Though the internet ripped Andress directly after she sang (and while she was singing, to be honest), they changed their tune when the 32-year-old singer put out this statement, clearing up why she struggled through the national anthem: “I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun.”

According to the artist’s updated tour schedule, the next time she is set to perform is October 4th at the Country Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland. That’s the only event that remains on the schedule that was riddled with dates prior to her national anthem performance. But despite all of the bad things that have happened in the past week with Ingrid, her music appears to be benefiting from the bad situation. According to statistics from SoundCloud, Andress' music has seen a play increase of 50% since her botched "Star Spangled Banner." And one song of hers in particular, "More Hearts Than Mine," has really caught on with fans that looked her up after the MLB Home Run debacle. If there's a silver lining to this story, Ingrid Andress getting help and getting more plays and exposure has to be it. Here's to hoping she recovers quickly and gets back out there to connect with some of her newfound fans.
