Caitlin Clark Makes Bold Prediction About Angel Reese

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark made a bold prediction about fellow rookie and longtime rival Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky .

Clark predicted that Reese is "probably going to lead the game in rebounds" while discussing the upcoming 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in which both will serve as the only rookies for Team WNBA in its matchup against the USA Basketball women's national team.

“I’m pretty excited,” Clark said. “I think it’s cool. It’s obviously rare to have two rookies in the All-Star Game, so I just think enjoy that. Obviously the fans are super excited about it. I just think it’s really good fo the W, and obviously she’s having an incredible year, so it’s going to be really fun.”

Reese is currently averaging 11.9 rebounds per game, the most of any WNBA player, and recorded a double-double in 17 consecutive games, a league record.

“She’s certainly probably going to lead the game in rebounds. I expect that out of her that’s just what she does,” Clark said.

Clark recorded a new WNBA record 19 assists during her team's 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings Wednesday (July 17) night. The former Iowa standout broke the previous record of 18 set by then-Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot by setting up Kelsey Mitchell 's 3-point shot late in the fourth quarter.

The assist brought Clark's season total to 213, which is the most by an Indiana Fever player in franchise history and is 12 shy of Ticha Penicheiro 's WNBA rookie record of 225. Clark has scored or assisted on 915 total points, which is also a WNBA rookie record, with 14 games remaining in the season as the Fever enter the Olympic break with an 11-15 record.

"It's kind of frustrating. I feel like we've left two games out there that are very winnable for us going into the break, the [Washington] Mystics at home and then obviously this one, and then we've won other matchups that are really tough for us," Clark said after Wednesday's loss via ESPN . "I think that's the biggest area for our team to grow. These last 14 games of the year, you can't leave these opportunities on the table."
