ADVISORY: YOU ARE PREPARING TO READ ABOUT A CONTENDER FOR MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK OF THE YEAR. Proceed with caution as listeners will want to play each song at max volume, blowing out eardrums nationwide. Today, Twisters hit theaters, and the follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster Twister
has been all of the buzz on the cinematic scene along with the country music scene. Twisters: The Album is the definition of stacked. With previously released singles from Jelly Roll , Tyler Childers , Miranda Lambert, Wyatt Flores & Jake Kohn , Lainey Wilson , Megan Moroney , and more, many wonder how it gets better...but it does. The remainder of the soundtrack hit streaming platforms today, unveiling more gems from your favorite artists, including Sam Barber, Red Clay Strays, Dylan Gossett, Tanner Usrey, Noah Taylor, Flatland Cavalry, Charley Crockett, Tyler Halverson, and the list goes on. While the names on the album are impressive as is, the songwriting and sound production on each track is equally remarkable. I have not yet seen the film starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper and Glenn Powell as Tyler Owens, I can tell you the album flawlessly tells a story through each track and the order in which they are laid out. From the rip-roaring first tracks like "Ain't No Love In Oklahoma" and "Ain't In Kansas Anymore," listeners are then taken into more somber tracks like "Never Left Me" and "Tear Us Apart." Then, the album closes with more introspective cuts like "New Loop" and "Driving You Home." The highs and lows found throughout the album highlight the adrenaline, devastation, and love for each other communities and families experience after a destructive twister. I could sit here and gush about how stellar this album is all day, but my words will not do the individual tracks justice. If I were to deep-dive into each song, you'd be reading a thesis. The best way to discover the magic is to get to listening. This album, top to bottom, truly has no skips.
Twisters: The Album brought in the best in the business, and I am not sure a New Music Friday can get more stacked than this... Fire up some of our early standouts.
