Dani Olmo sends transfer message as Liverpool running out of time to trigger release clause

RB Leipzig ace Dani Olmo has said he is unsure whether he wants to stay in Germany amid speculation around his future .

The attacking midfielder played a key part in helping Spain to Euro 2024 glory after they defeated England last weekend 2-1 in Berlin. His impressive performances this summer saw him named in the team of the tournament, despite only really coming into the Spain starting line-up at the beginning of their quarter-final against Germany.

The 26-year-old has a $65m (£52m/€60m) release fee clause, with a host of clubs, including Liverpool , rumored to be interested in signing the Spaniard. Alongside the Reds, Manchester City, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all been linked to Olmo.

However, the RB Leipzig midfielder's release clause runs out this weekend. And with his contract set to run until the summer of 2027, that will only strengthen the Bundesliga side's negotiating hand.

And speaking to Spanish outlet Marca following Spain's Euro 2024 triumph, Olmo has admitted he does not know whether he wants to stay in Germany. "My advisors, who are dealing with this, already know what I want to do. I don't know if I will stay in Germany, we will see," Olmo said.

"I want to be in a place where I am appreciated and loved and what I want to do is win. There are several options, we will see what happens."

Should Liverpool try and sign Dani Olmo this summer? Let us know in the comments section below.

Sky Germany has also reported Olmo appears unlikely to stay at Leipzig for the new Bundesliga season. And his comments to Marca would seem to give weight to this reporting.

If Olmo truly did want to remain at Leipzig, all he would have to do is say so. His contract runs until 2027, so Leipzig have plenty of power when it comes to negotiations. It will all depend now on whether a club pays his release fee clause.
