“PSA guys: It’s not a good look to announce the breakup of your ex-boyfriend with his new girlfriend,” Culpo, 35, shared. “It looks petty, it looks bitter, and it’s not your story to tell, but she did.”
Aurora Culpo called out “petty” Bethenny Frankel for sharing the news of the podcaster’s split with Paul Bernon. Culpo also suggested Bernon, 45, had dumped her in part because she discussed him on her podcast despite him wanting to remain “anonymous.”
“You gotta let me know that you don’t want to be spoken about at all,” she said. “Otherwise, I can’t really help it if you don’t remain anonymous anymore, and I can’t really take responsibility for the way people in your past might feel about the way I talk about my anonymous boyfriend on my podcast.”
Culpo detailed the timeline and circumstances of their romance, telling her listeners that Bernon reached out to do a podcast with her after hearing her talk about a former relationship. The former couple had meetings over Zoom and ultimately “hit it off.”
Culpo also confirmed that the financier broke up with her because she had spoken about him on her podcast even though she didn’t mention his name. “You gotta let me know that you don’t want to be spoken about at all,” she said. “Otherwise, I can’t really help it if you don’t remain anonymous anymore.” Getty Images
“He’s such a nice guy. He’s sweet. He’s generous. He’s a great dad, super funny,” she explained, “and I still feel all these same ways about him.
“Just because we can’t be together doesn’t mean that I’m mad at him or doesn’t mean that I don’t still think he’s an amazing person. He is.”
Although Bernon ultimately broke up with Culpo after two months of dating, she admitted that prior to her sister Olivia Culpo’s wedding to Christian McCaffrey, she was “having feelings like this relationship probably isn’t for” her because he did not want to have more children.
The “Culpo Sisters” alum did, however, reveal she was having doubts about the romance right before her sister Olivia’s wedding. Bernon didn’t want more children while Aurora said she wanted to keep that door open. auroraculpo/Instagram
“I didn’t really want that door to be closed for me,” she said.
Frankel, 53, shared on her “Just B” podcast earlier this month that while it was “gutting” to witness her ex-fiancé move on with a much younger woman, she also believed Aurora “learned a lot” after speaking publicly of the new romance because it “cost” her the relationship.
“I think by sharing all the details of your new relationship, you’re disrespecting the last relationship,” the Skinnygirl mogul said.
Although news of Frankel and Bernon’s split broke in May, Aurora said they broke up in December. bethennyfrankel/Instagram The “RHONY” alum had said it was a “mutual” decision to end their engagement. bethennyfrankel/Instagram
Frankel, who is single, candidly shared that she was in therapy to help her “process” her split from Bernon, which she clarified was “certainly mutual” despite initiating it herself.
“I wasn’t happy. Something needed to change,” she explained. “The relationship had its challenges, and nobody dumped anybody, but I went through it. I knew that it was ultimately the right thing, and I really made peace with it. I was happy, and I was thriving and surviving.”
News of Frankel and Bernon’s ended engagement broke in May; however, Aurora shared on her podcast that the financier had told her he and the BStrong philanthropist had called off their wedding in December.
