    Man killed in Yankton County crash identified as Mike Durfee State Prison Corrections Lieutenant

    YANKTON, S.D. (KCAU) — The man killed in a Yankton County crash on Tuesday has been identified.

    According to a release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the man was identified as Andrew Kotalik, 30, of Yankton. Kotalik was a Corrections Lieutenant at the Mike Durfee State Prison.

    Norfolk man airlifted after crash on Highway 81

    The other man involved in the crash was identified as Douglas Zimmerman. Zimmerman sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

    The crash happened Tuesday after Kotalik hit a dead deer on Highway 50, causing him to enter the eastbound lane and crash into Zimmerman.

    Funeral services for Kotalik are scheduled to take place on Saturday with visitation taking place Friday night.
