Alex Sarr, the number two pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is facing backlash on social media after his statement about the future of French players in the NBA.

Selected second overall by the Washington Wizards, Sarr expressed his belief that French players have the potential to become a powerhouse in the league.

"I think France can be really a powerhouse for NBA players, and it's gonna keep growing over the years," Sarr shared.

However, fans were quick to roast him, particularly because of his struggles early in his career.

Indeed there are dominant French players like four-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama, critics feel Sarr should be more focused on his own performance.

"This the last dude who should use the term dominate," said one fan.

"Let’s shoot over 20% before we start talking about dominating the NBA," said another.

To say Sarr has struggled in his NBA debut would be an understatement. Over his last two summer league games, he has managed two points while shooting 1-for-21 from the field.

Some fans do agree with his claim about the French players, but not particularly about him.

Despite the rocky beginning, Sarr's NBA journey recently began.

He still has plenty of time to prove his critics wrong and validate his claim that French players will continue to have a significant impact on the league.
