JACKSON TWP, Pa. ( WETM ) — One man was arrested and another man was injured on Thursday after troopers responded to a shooting in Tioga County Pa.

According to a release by Pennsylvania State Police, 69-year-old Michael Eugene Stickler was arrested on Thursday, July 18, on the charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and possessing instruments of a crime.

Police said that around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, troopers were dispatched to a residence on East Lawrence Road in Jackson Township for the report of a shooting.

According to an affidavit, the victim reported that he had been shot by Stickler twice, who was identified as the victim’s neighbor, while he was outside trimming weeds near his mailbox.

Around 4:45 p.m. a member of the Millerton Volunteer Fire Department arrived to assist the victim and noticed Stickler sitting on his front porch. Troopers arrived five minutes later and arrested Stickler on his porch. The affidavit states that troopers noticed a pump action shotgun and two spent shell casings on the railing. Before being put in the back of a police car, Stickler was searched, and live shotgun shells were found in his pockets.

Police said that Stickler’s porch is around 35 to 40 yards away from where the victim was hit.

The affidavit said that troopers spoke with the victim when he was being treated in an ambulance. The victim told the trooper that he was trimming weeds around his mailbox when he heard a loud noise followed by a pain in his chest and his vision narrowed. After that, the victim said he realized he was shot.

The victim’s wife told troopers that she had heard the gunshots coming from the direction of Stickler’s house and then her husband came back inside the house where she saw injuries to his head and chest.

The affidavit states that the victim was taken from the scene to a helicopter before being flown to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Police said that the victim is currently stable.
