Golf fans all made the same plea for Tiger Woods to retire after his disastrous showing at the 2024 Open.

After Woods recorded a 79 on the par-71 course in the first round, he was six-over-par (77) on Friday to finish the first 36 holes at Royal Troon at +14, tied for 147th.

He'll miss the cut at a major for the third consecutive time.

Since winning the 2019 Masters — his 15th major championship — Woods has either missed the cut or withdrawn due to injury in eight of his 13 major appearances.

His best finish during that span was a tie for 21st at the 2019 U.S. Open.

"This is rough to watch. Tiger Woods it might be time to hang it up bro. 6 missed cuts in his past 7 majors," wrote one observer.

"Time to go home and join the Champions tour," wrote a commenter in response to a picture of Tiger Woods from before his second round captioned, "It's go time."

"Tiger was great but that player no longer exists. Please move on," chimed in another social media account.

Despite his rough showing and calls for him to retire, Woods rang an optimistic tone after the second round.

"Physically, I've got better, which is great... I just need to keep progressing and then eventually start playing more competitively and getting into the competitive flow again," Woods said .

Even with Woods not at the top of his game, fans at Royal Troon showered him with applause as he walked the 18th hole.

Woods told reporters that he intends to compete at the 2025 Open at Royal Portrush.

Royal Portrush last hosted the Open in 2019. Woods missed the cut, finishing his two rounds and six-over-par.
