Jenna Bush Hager demonstrated something she considers sacrosant to girl code during Friday’s broadcast of Today : Her “fat-o-no-mo” method to taking pictures with friends.
She and Hoda Kotb were offering some advice to their viewers when one question elicited strong reactions from both hosts.
“My friend Addie always posts photos of the two of us, but she edits her appearance and not mine. I don’t want my appearance to be edited, but sometimes I get annoyed because I think I look worse in the photos. Can I mention this to Addie?” a viewer asked.
But that didn’t stop Bush Hager from standing up and demonstrating with Kotb. She stood next to Kotb as if they were taking a picture together and pulled her into her side.
“What fat-o-no-mo stands for — I started a not-for-profit — and what it stands for is, you’re standing next to your friend, the two of us in a photo, you do not— you always got your friend’s back. You pull her in so she looks great!” she said as she leaned in and pulled her co-host into her side.
Kotb explained to viewers, “She’s trying to pull my arm fat in, that’s what she’s trying to do.”
Bush Hager added, “The point of the fat-o-no-mo movement is that we never, ever let our girls look bad in photos! We got our girls’ back. Fat-o-no-mo!”
They fist-bumped each other as Kotb admitted that she does agree with not letting your friends look bad in photos you share on social media.
“But you know what people do? When people are like, ‘This is a great picture!’ And I’m like, ‘My tooth is blacked out!” she said.
Today with Hoda & Jenna airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
