In a release from the New Mexico State Police they announced that on July 16, 2024, at around 1:58 PM, a New Mexico State Police officer made a traffic stop on Agua Fria and Alicia for a seatbelt violation, which resulted in a significant drug bust and multiple felony charges. During the stop, the officer learned that the passenger, Jesse Angel Tredway, 19, who was not wearing his seatbelt, had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Upon further investigation, a search warrant was obtained for a backpack in Tredway's possession. The subsequent search revealed large quantities of cash, drugs (including cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl), and other items used in trafficking illegal drugs.

Tredway was arrested without incident and booked into the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center. In addition to the outstanding Aggravated Assault warrant, he received 13 additional charges, 11 of which are felonies. Those charges include:

    • Trafficking (By Distribution) (6 counts)

    • Distribution of a Controlled Substance (5 counts)

    • Violation of Cannabis Trafficking Regulations

    • No Seat Belt

This case underscores the commitment of the New Mexico State Police to keeping our community safe from drug-related crimes.
