Sheriff’s deputies charge four with July 4 burglary of two trucks, guns and other items from county home

NATCHEZ — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has arrested four people and recovered a Chevrolet truck and several guns that were reported stolen on July 4 from a residence on Foster Mound Road.

The Chevrolet truck, along with a Toyota truck, hunting equipment, guns, and appliances, were reported stolen to ACSO deputies. Later that evening, deputies located the stolen Chevrolet truck at 5 Rainbow St. Deputies towed the truck and seized several weapons that were on the front seat of the vehicle.

Sheriff Travis Patten said throughout the next week, deputies were able to identify several suspects and persons of interest in the burglary and began searching for them.

On July 16, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Operations Group observed one of the suspects at a residence on Kaiser Lake Road.

“When she saw the deputies, Nancy ‘Noel’ Evans began throwing items into the woods,” Patten said in a press release issued Friday afternoon.

Evans was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant and her items were searched. Evans was found to possess drug paraphernalia and approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine.

“Deputies then talked to several people and learned that Joseph Todd Partridge, another suspect in the burglary, was hiding in a camper on the same property where Evans was arrested,” the sheriff said.

Partridge, who was also wanted on outstanding warrants, was located and placed under arrest.

On July 18, deputies located additional suspects, Jonathan Newman and Vicki Byrnes, who reside at 5 Rainbow St., where the Chevrolet truck was found. The two were wanted for questioning in the burglary. Investigators obtained evidence tying Byrnes and Newman to the July 4 burglary.

Investigators recovered a .22 caliber Derringer pistol, a Smith and Wesson 9 mm, M-1 Carbine rifle, compound bows, a crossbow, the Chevrolet truck, a Spanish revolver, a Ruger 6 mm rifle, and an illegally “sawed off” Remington shotgun from different locations in the county.

Byrnes was arrested and charged with burglary and grand larceny.

Newman was arrested and charged with burglary and two counts of grand larceny.

Partridge was arrested and charged on a failure to appear bench warrant, burglary and two counts of grand larceny.

Evans was arrested and charged with a bench warrant, harboring a fugitive and possession of a schedule II drug, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver.

Patten said his investigators are still investigating leads and are trying to locate other guns and the Toyota truck.

The Toyota truck is a 1987 model, white with a red tailgate and pipe bumpers.
