AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton warns Texans to be wary of scams following the global CrowdStrike service outage.

The Attorney General's office advises taking the following steps to avoid being scammed and possibly compromising personal data and devices:

    1. Be cautious of any unsolicited calls, texts, or other communications asking for login credentials to your computer, especially if they claim to be from CrowdStrike.
    2. Change any password you may have disclosed. If you use the same password for multiple accounts, make sure to change the password on each account and avoid reusing the password in the future.
    3. If you suspect you have shared sensitive information, notify the relevant people in your organization, such as customer support or the IT department.
