HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Nine Mile Road in Henrico County is closed as Verizon conducts repairs to a utility pole that was struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning.

According to the Henrico County Police Division, in the early morning of Saturday, July 20, officers responded to a single vehicle crash near the intersection of Nine Mile Road and Evergreen Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a vehicle that was on its side, on fire and had struck a utility pole.

Henrico Fire and police officers were able to put the fire out and get the male driver and female passenger out of the vehicle. The female passenger was transported to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to authorities.

Nine Mile Road will be closed for an extended period while Verizon conducts repairs, according to officials. Henrico Police advises drivers to avoid the area if possible.

Henrico Police said an update will be provided when the roads are reopened.
