Due to LeBron James' undeniable accomplishments in recent years, the GOAT debate has been narrowed down to him and Michael Jordan . While "The King" continues to defy the laws of time with his incredible longevity, former Los Angeles Sparks center and two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike believes MJ still deserves to be hailed as the one and only NBA GOAT.

On the other hand, Ogwumike concluded that James was right behind Jordan in the discussion. And the fact that LeBron appears to be catching up makes the GOAT debate even more interesting.

"Being at the intersection of game transitioning, that's MJ. Again, six finals, and LeBron James is chasing that standard, which has made this whole conversation super fun," Chiney once said .

LeBron and MJ impacted the WNBA

Having heard Ogwumike's hot take on the NBA GOAT debate, it only shows that even WNBA players have strong opinions on the matter. Moreover, it also speaks volumes about Jordan and LeBron's impact not only on the NBA but on basketball as a whole.

While the debate will never have a definitive answer, one thing is certain: both MJ and James have left an indelible mark on the game. Their talents, dedication, and passion continue to inspire players of all levels, including those in the WNBA.

    Who is the WNBA GOAT?

Since its inauguration in 1996, the WNBA has seen an array of talented players grace its courts. That said, like in the NBA, there is also a constant debate about who deserves the title of the Greatest Player of All Time in the league.

Many have regarded Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi as the rightful WNBA GOAT. In fact, WNBA fans have voted her as the greatest to ever do it in 2021.

While Taurasi's status has already been cemented, some fans believe there are many other WNBA GOAT candidates also deserving of the recognition. Among them were Seattle Storm great Sue Bird, Indiana Fever legend Tamika Catchings, and Houston Comets icon Cynthia Cooper.

Much like in the NBA, the WNBA GOAT will also continue to spark discussions and ignite passion among basketball enthusiasts for the years to come, especially with stars like A'ja Wilson constantly dominating and soaring newcomers such as Caitlyn Clarke and Angel Reese already carving their respective paths to superstardom.
