WNBA superstar Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle, announced the birth of their first child on Friday.

Griner shared the news during an interview at WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, saying she and her wife welcomed a baby boy named "Bash" to the world on July 8.

“I guess I’ll just drop that he’s here,” Griner said. "That's my man. He is amazing. They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That's literally what happened."

The interviewer, Terrika Foster-Brasby, expressed her excitement over Griner becoming a mom.

Griner politely and playfully corrected Foster-Brasby, saying she wants to be called "Pops."

Griner and Team USA will face off against the WNBA All-Star Team in a highly-anticipated matchup on Saturday night. Then, the 10-time All-Star and her Olympic teammates will head to Paris to represent the United States in this year's Summer Games.

"It kind of sucks because I have to leave, but at the same time, he will understand," Griner said of leaving Bash. ".. My whole phone has turned into him."

Saturday night's WNBA All-Star Game will tipoff at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
