Ogden Pioneer Days: 90 Years of Rodeo & Celebration

The Rodeo is a big part of the festivities held in celebrating Ogden Pioneer Days in the city of Ogden, Utah. The rodeo each year draws more than 30,000 attendees. It has been consistently ranked as one of the top outdoor rodeos in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).

This year the Ogden Pioneer Days are celebrating 90 years. In addition to the rodeo, the festivities include parades, concerts, and other fun activities.

Ogden Pioneer Days began in 1934 as a celebration of Ogden's early days and to help secure their future. Mayor Harman Peery wanted to capitalize on the rodeo interests and attract tourists as well as lift the spirit of the community. He tried to unite the community and highlight the best of Ogden through the celebration.

The city of Ogden in northern Utah was named for Peter Skene Ogden. He trapped in the area and build the first known permanent house there.

Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo and Celebration commemorates Ogden's storied past.
