The Arizona Cardinals will open training camp July 23 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2023, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Next up is defensive lineman Ben Stille.

    Background

Stille played five seasons at Nebraska and was an Academic All-Big 10 every year. He started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Dolphins in 2022 and played one game with Miami and then six including one start for the Browns. Waived by Cleveland on May 9, 2023, he was claimed by the Cardinals and was up and down from the practice squad and active roster during the season. Stille ended the season on the 53-man roster after being signed on Jan. 6, 2024.

    2023 stats

In five games for the Cardinals, he played 134 snaps on defense and totaled eight tackles (six solo) with one quarterback hit.

    2024 contract details, cap hit

When signed on Jan. 6, the contract also included the 2024 season. Stille’s salary and cap charge is $985,000, the veteran minimum for players with two credited seasons.

    Questions he faces

Like many players competing for jobs on the defensive line, the question facing Stille is whether he can outplay several that are likely ahead of him on the depth chart.

    2024 roster outlook

Stille is squarely on the bubble, but his discipline and smarts could result in a spot on the practice squad if he fails to make the 53-man roster.
