NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — One important addition to the Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department’s furry force has just retired.

According to the department, K9 Profi has been a member of the K9 unit for 7 years. Along with Deputy J. Citta, the pooch was able to pack a powerful punch in keeping the community safe.

Citta and Profi went on hundreds of deployments together as well as had dozens of community encounters and presentations.

The department says that having a sheriff’s K9 isn’t an easy job, requiring 24 hour dedication to take care of the four-legged force of justice.

Profi will continue his retirement, though, in the hands of his most trusted companions, the Citta family.

K9 Profi is now 10-42 for the final time, and the department thanked the pooch for his hard work.
