Tiny 3-Week-Old Maine Coon Kittens Are Already Showing Off Their Playful Personalities

A litter of black Maine Coon cats are now three weeks old and growing quickly, and their playful personalities are now coming out.

On July 18, 2024, TikTok user Wild Mane Maine Coons (@wildmane_mainecoons) shared an update on their litter of black kittens, and they're growing so fast. Take a look!

In an update video shared to TikTok, the registered breeder of Maine Coons shared some details about their litter of black kittens and the mama, Stormy.

"Here's an update on Story and her kittens," the cat mama shares as we get an overhead look at the cute litter of kittens.

"The kittens will be three weeks old on Saturday. Stormy is such a dedicated mom, and unlike Honey, she has always been more independent, so she spends most of the time with the kittens," the update continues.

"The kittens' ears have unfolded now, and their expressions are starting to show a lot more. I've been really starting to notice the wild expression that they get from their dad."

Her update continued sharing that the kittens are doing well "weight wise," but she has noted they're "smaller than what Honey's kittens were at this age," referencing her other Maine Coon who recently welcomed kittens. But there were only three in her litter. "There was a lot of milk and less competition," the cat mom noted.

The update continued, and the cat's mom shared more details about the kittens and why she had not introduced them to Honey's kitten set.

And all the while, we're seeing how big the kittens are and how their personalities are coming out. They're playful with each other, but in Maine Coon form, they've all got serious-looking facial expressions.

"I love seeing those wild expressions," the video's caption reads.

Interesting Facts About Maine Coons

According to the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance , Maine Coons have been around for a very long time, with the first mention in writing being in The Book of the Cat, written in 1861. They were known " for being great mousers and prized for their beauty," these cats are most known for their impressive size, their sweet personality, and their love for water.

"They are one of the largest breeds of domestic cats, growing up to 18 pounds. Even the more dainty of the breed can weigh in around 9 pounds," the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance wrote. "They have a sturdy frame and plenty of length, which they love draping over anything comfy that will hold them. They grow slowly and don’t reach full size until they are around five-years-old."

The cats are also known for being really sweet and cuddly cats who love to cuddle on your lap and follow you from room to room. "But they aren’t known to be needy. They will happily cuddle if you have an open lap, but they’re also content to curl up on their own." And the love water, chasing mice, playing hunt and pounce games, and just hanging out.
