    Mother and 1-year-old child drown at Wilson Creek in Caldwell County: EMS

    CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A mother and her one-year-old child died after drowning at Wilson Creek, according to Caldwell County Emergency Services.

    Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, first responders were called to Brown Mountain Beach Road in the Wilson Creek Gorge for a drowning.

    When they arrived, they quickly started saving three victims, two of whom were unconscious, officials said.

    Unfortunately, a one-year-old child and their mother died of their injuries at the scene. Law enforcement stayed at the scene until around 10 p.m. on Saturday.

    No information about the nature of the drowning was released.
