BREMEN, Ind. — Indiana State Police K9 Daisy was gifted a bullet and stab protective vest over the weekend thanks to a donation from the non-profit organizations “Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”

The vest honors a previously fallen police K9 from Des Moines, Iowa, Hobbs with a memoriam embroidered on the vests front. It was custom fitted to Daisy’s exact size prior to being given to her.

Since the organizations founding in 2009, they have provided over 5,700 vests to K9s across all 50 states. That accounts for $6.9 million in value raised through private and corporate donations.

Each vest has a value of roughly $1,800 and weighs about 4 – 5 lbs. For more information or for volunteer opportunities with Vested Interest in K9s Inc. you can call 508-824-6978 or visit vik9s.org.
