    University of Wisconsin Hospitals again ranked number one in Wisconsin

    MADISON, Wis. -- For the 13th year in a row, UW Health announced Tuesday it ranked first in Wisconsin on the U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals list.

    UW Health said the University Hospitals received the highest rating for 18 procedures and conditions impacting senior citizens, while also having seven medical and surgical specialties ranked best in the nation. The rankings reflect UW Health's remarkable patient care.

    UW Health said its best-in-nation specialties include ear, nose and throat, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, geriatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology. Obstetrics and gynecology was ranked among the top 10 in the nation. Cancer, cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, and neurology and neurosurgery were ranked as "high performing."

    As for the high-ranking procedures and conditions impacting senior citizens, UW Health said it received recognition for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, back surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, gynecological cancer surgery, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip fracture, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, lung cancer surgery, pneumonia, prostate cancer surgery, and stroke.

    UW Health said the multiple recognitions reinforce its longstanding reputation for outstanding patient care, innovative therapies and exceptional patient outcomes.
