Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival Crowns Its Winners

It was a weekend full of incredible sand art.

The 20th annual Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival took place from July 19th to July 21st. During these past few days, 15 sand sculptors showcased their art for the chance to win cash prizes.

The competitors came from all around the globe. However, sand sculpting locals were also part of the event: Ndricim "Jimmy" Bejko, who moved from Albania to Boston and now six-time competitor Deborah Barret-Cutulle of Saugus.

The sculptors started working on their creations on Wednesday. Additionally, they had all day Friday and Saturday until 2 PM to sculpt. The judges deliberated later on Saturday evening and an awards ceremony was held that night.

Here are this year's winners:

-5th Place: "Fish Fantasy" by Karen Fralich of Canada

-4th Place: "Barn Swallow, Swallow, Barn" by Bouke Atema of The Netherlands

-3rd Place: "Dunner" by Susanne Ruseler of The Netherlands

-2nd Place: Untitled by Slavian Borecki of Poland

-1st Place: "Blend In" by Jobi Bouchard of Canada

Bouchard also won Sculptor's Choice and People's Choice for his work.

The Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival was free for the public to attend. In addition to the competition, visitors were also able to enjoy vendors, food trucks, live music and other fun activities.
