Bills training camp is just a few days away. To get you ready, we will preview one position group each day between now and the first practice at St. John Fisher. We’ll break down each position’s strengths, weaknesses and what single player or factor will most swing the outlook of that spot for 2024.

Today we will focus on running backs. If you missed any of our other previews, here is where you can catch up: quarterbacks , wide receivers , running backs, tight ends, offensive line, defensive line.

    Strength: Athleticism

Last season in this spot, the upside on Terrel Bernard was ending up with two Matt Milano’s.

Bernard isn’t close to that level yet, but his first season as a starter proved that he fits the mold.

The Bills starters have been wheels to burn, and can move sideline to sideline with anyone.

And there’s a ton of room for improvement. Bernard is in year two as a starter– a year that will hopefully include Milano’s return from injury.

    Weakness: Nothing

This group has productive depth with Nicholas Morrow and Deion Jones.

There are young guys with upside. Dorian Williams and rookie Edefuan Ulofoshio especially.

And the position is led by an All-Pro talent. There’s just one caveat– Matt Milano’s return.

    X-Factor: Milano’s Return

Bills fans have seen how Tre White and Von Miller weren’t anywhere close to their best in year one after a major injury.

Milano’s season-ending injury last year was so serious, the Bills would never detail it.

All indications from the spring seem that Milano is in good shape. But how soon he’ll be back to that All-Pro level, or even back to games at all, is still in question.
