Shelby County shooting leaves man injured

SHLEBY COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A man was transported to a Birmingham-area hospital after a shooting in Shelby County on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 4:18 p.m. to the 200 block of Shoal Run Trail on report of a shooting with injuries. At the scene, deputies found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the torso.

Deputies rendered aid to the victim, and North Shelby Fire District personnel arrived at the location to provide more aid. The SCSO stated the victim’s condition is unknown.

Deputies detained a suspect near the scene. The SCSO believes a domestic-related shooting occurred and mentioned there is no known danger to the area. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the SCSO will provide updates as they become available.
