Brittney Griner Sends Message to Her Parents After Welcoming First Child

Brittney Griner and wife Cherelle Griner just welcomed their first child, and the WNBA star has a message for her parents -- she gets it now.

Griner announced this week that the couple welcomed their baby boy on July 8. After competing in the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, Griner revealed that she has been working on time management in caring for a newborn.

Griner then let her parents know that she has a better idea what they went through in caring for a newborn.

"I just got to give a shoutout to my parents because yeah, I understand what they were talking about now," Griner said .

It has been an especially busy stretch for Griner, who has juggled baby duties with her role on the Pheonix Mercury and preparations for the Paris Olympics, where she will represent the United States. Griner also competed in the All-Star Game, scoring 10 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in just 14 minutes.

Griner has already gushed about the baby boy, saying she fell in love the moment she saw him.

"That's my man. He is amazing," Griner said in an interview ahead of the All-Star Game. "They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That's literally what happened."

The couple had taken to Instagram in April to announce that the baby was on the way in July and that they were excited about "meeting our favorite human being."
