LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — If candidate Joe Biden had asked Governor Whitmer to be his running mate in 2020, she confirmed she would have said yes. But what now if someone asks about that second spot on the ticket?

With President Joe Biden now bowing out and embracing his Vice President Harris for the job, where does this leave Governor Whitmer? Shortly after his historic decision to step aside, the governor said she would do everything possible to elect Democrats and “stop Donald Trump.”

Interestingly, at the weekend rally in Grand Rapids, former President Donald Trump told his supporters he would love to run against the governor from Michigan. Apparently, that is not going to happen. However, because the governor’s name is now in play for Vice President she suggested “You never say never.”

But in her statement Sunday, she did not refer to the second spot on the Democratic ticket.

At this time, Governor Whitmer is not expected to say anything more on this issue, but she is scheduled to talk about her new book with former Governor Jim Blanchard.
