Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney is reportedly interested in bringing Liverpool striker Jayden Danns to Home Park for the upcoming Championship season .

The 18-year-old burst onto the scene for the Reds last term in the FA and Carabao Cup, coming on in the final of the latter to help Liverpool beat Chelsea at Wembley 1-0 in dramatic fashion. Danns also scored his first two senior goals in the FA Cup, netting twice against Southampton in a fifth-round win at Anfield .

And now it has emerged former Toffees star Rooney, having recently been appointed Plymouth boss back in May, is eager to bring Danns to The Pilgrims ahead of the upcoming Championship campaign, .

TEAMtalk claims Rooney wants to bolster his attacking options, and is interested in bringing Danns, the son of former Bolton midfielder Neil, down to the south coast. The 18-year-old inked a long-term deal at Anfield back in March, and is rated highly by the club.

However, he will almost certainly be way down Arne Slot's pecking order this term, making a move to a Championship side where he might get senior first-team minutes an appealing one, both for Danns and Liverpool.

Additionally, there's the Rooney factor too. While the former Manchester United and England star may have been sacked by Birmingham City in his last job, there's no doubt Rooney was one of the greatest forwards the Premier League has ever seen.

Would a move to Plymouth Argyle be a smart one for Jayden Danns? Let us know in the comments section below.

Having the chance to learn from one of the greatest in Premier League history, who won everything there is to win, would only be a benefit to Danns. And it would potentially allow him to live up to ex-Reds boss Jurgen Klopp's lofty praise following his Southampton brace earlier this year.

"Exceptional talents, of course it is not natural that a boy aged 18 is as calm as you like," Klopp said of Danns after the FA Cup win against the Saints. "The second goal, calm as you like, he saw when Conor [Bradley] shot that the goalie cannot take it."
