Super Bowl champion labeled as potential cut candidate for the Bills

The Buffalo Bills have added a lot of new faces to their receiving corps this offseason. The latest of which is two-time Super Bowl Champion Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Valdes-Scantling spent the last two seasons with the Chiefs, where he caught 63 passes for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns and helped the Chiefs win consecutive Super Bowls. However, Dakota Randall of Pro Football Network says the former fifth-round pick is a cut candidate going into training camp.

“The Bills hope Marquez Valdes-Scantling can establish himself as a downfield weapon for Josh Allen,” Randall wrote. “But his issues with drops are well-documented, and if the Bills want to cut bait, they will incur just a $1.35 million dead cap hit.”

While Valdes-Scantling did have the worst season of his career in 2023, I would argue Mack Hollins would be more of a cut candidate. He only caught 18 passes a season ago in Atlanta, and the Bills would save $1.38 million if they released him since it is after June 1st. Regardless, I would be shocked if both Valdes-Scantling and Hollins made the team - it feels like a one or the other situation.
