SIOUX CITY, Tri-state (KCAU) — After the announcement of President Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, Democratic Party chairmen for Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska released their statement on the topic.

Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart hosted a press conference over Zoom to give the party’s response to President Biden dropping out of the presidential race.

She stated, “President Joe Biden has served our country and Iowans well. I am personally added that President Biden has decided that he is unable to continue the work he has started by running for a second turn. But I recognize that Biden is telling us that it’s time to finish the job.”

Here in Woodbury County, the Democratic State Representative J.D. Scholten also responded to President Biden’s dropping out of the race, saying he supports it. “Joe Biden’s a good man. I’ve met him a couple of times and you know, how many leaders step back when they have that type of power, so that takes a lot and so I have a tremendous amount of respect for President Biden doing the best thing for our party, for our nation, and for our democracy.”

After hearing the news of Biden’s withdrawal, the South Dakota Democratic Party is thanking the president for the work he’s done while in office. Dan Ahlers, the executive director of the South Dakota Democratic party reflects back on President Biden’s time in office and his decision to leave the race.

The Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party, Jane Kleeb, put out a statement about President Biden dropping out of the race.

He said ” After 60 years serving our great nation, President Biden’s decision to step down as the party’s nominee cements his lasting legacy as a true public servant. President Biden’s leadership is what allowed our nation to defeat Donald Trump in 2020. And his decision today will ensure that democrats can once again safeguard our democracy from an authoritarian dictator hellbent on destroying our democracy”
